The Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council is currently completing the second phase of “Mustaqbali" or "My Future" system, a new online system which aims to develop workforce. It enables the new university students to have access to the most needed scientific disciplines in the labor market of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the coming years, and choose the right specialty that helps them to obtain a promising job opportunity upon graduation. The second phase includes higher education student services, as they will be provided with the practical training opportunities and field experience during their study, which will help them acquire the necessary skills and prepare them to the labor market after graduation. The Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council has recently linked the workforce development system in its first phase with three leading universities and colleges; Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and Al Ain University of Science and Technology, and linking with other universities and colleges is in progress, and will be announced later
. This linking came to keep pace with the electronic transformation in Abu Dhabi Government in an effort to reduce the gap between the scientific disciplines of the Emirati cadres and the expertise and skills needed by employers in the short and long term. Abdulla Al Humaidan, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, stressed that the system depends first and foremost on the response of employers and higher education institutions to join the system of workforce development, as the quality and accuracy of data increase through employers’ cooperation, whether governmental, semi-governmental, or private, in the inclusion of their current and future job vacancies, which contributes effectively to providing a clear picture for the students of universities and colleges about the disciplines required, and a clear and comprehensive information for the decision-makers about the UAE labor force in the future. The system offers several services, such as clear information on the current job needs and future manpower for the labor market, and directs students to choose the appropriate disciplines that meet the needs of the labor market in the presence of an academic counselor, and it provides students with the knowledge, skills and field experiences that help prepare them for the rapidly-growing labor market when they are still students, as this system will benefit the decision-makers, employers, educational institutions and students.
