Funded by the National Research Foundation during the current year 11 projects of collaborative research projects between universities and the industrial sector in the areas of biotechnology, health and earth science, environment, electrical and electronic engineering and medical biology.
It also achieved seven studies on a number of important social issues under the titles "overview of young Emiratis aspirations, experiences of the juvenile justice system in UAE, labor market and problems of unemployment for young people, Educational aspirations and expectations for the students' learning in secondary schools, and UAE economical competitiveness with a particular focus on economical diversification strategies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and analysis of the health situation in the country.
And in the area of research and research projects NRF evaluated the scientific research projects related to UAE University funding programs according to the competitive international standards and evaluating studies results of hot topics in the social sciences related to the UAE society that funded by the foundation in 2011.
A number of researchers in higher education public institutions and the American University in Sharjah a study about scientific research priorities in the country in accordance with UAE’s strategic vision for 2020 and 2021. And a study also is being prepared around the performance of the scientific research in UAE universities in collaboration with Thomson Reuters Foundation in accordance with the international standards for assessing and classifying the published researches in the literature accredited internationally
The Foundation also provided a number of grants and awards, including research grants to fund the projects of faculty members dispatched by the country.
