
A small committee of
(12) national Gulf universities today (3/3/2014), in “Manama”, is discussing a
project presented by “University of Bahrain”, which aims to establish “ Gulf Universities
Association” in order to support the integration between higher education institutions
and universities in “GCC Countries”. The small committee includes Chancellors
and Provosts of universities, and higher education officials in the “GCC Countries”.
Gulf universities,
through this project, are looking forward to supporting and coordinating their
efforts which aim to prepare gulf citizens to be able to preserve their
countries, nations, and their unity and cultural identity, and to develop the
nations in a comprehensive way that meet their aspirations and achieve
integrity and unity, which will, in turn, benefit the universities of the “GCC
Countries”, such as curricular integration, connection of information networks,
easy movement of students from one university to another, and many other
benefits that the proposed association will provide, and which will benefit the
research and academic processes, and enhance communication among the citizens
of the “GCC Countries”.
The “GCC Higher
Education and Scientific Research Ministers' Committee” has recently held its (16th)
meeting in “Riyadh”, in order to enhance communication and cooperation in all
educational, academic, and research areas, which made the universities and
higher education institutions in the “GCC” experience a wide range of
activities regarding the exchange of expertise and cooperation in the field of higher
education on the regional and international levels, in order to benefit from
the advanced and distinguished experiences, so as to be on a par with the
prestigious education institutions in ranking.
The “UAE University”
is among the participating universities due to the remarkable level of “UAE”
and the university in the field of higher education and scientific research.
The university always seeks to maintain its position among the major
universities, which is headed by His Excellency Sheikh "Hamdan bin Mubarak
Al Nahyan," Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Supreme
Head of the University, which has lately been ranked first in the Arab countries,
and (76th) internationally, as per the “Times Higher Education,
World University Rankings 2013-2014” .
