"I want to teach all the children of the Gulf, I want the son of the Gulf to build his country through his knowledge. We send our scholarship students to all places of the Earth for education and upon their return to their country; I will have achieved the greatest hope affecting me of advancing the Gulf as a whole."

"We believe in the role of knowledge in developing individuals, and that knowledge is the basis of all progress and the source of all civilizations. And is the best investment for creating generations of intellectuals from the country’s own people." - The late, God willing - Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan -

Advancing this concept and led by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, embraces its academically outstanding young to pursue their undergraduate and graduate studies abroad trusting this will exalt the enhancement of the country, and attain the coveted progress and growth in all aspects of life.  The Ministry dispatches a number of students per year to study in prominent internationally recognized universities, and provides guidance in choosing specializations required for the country’s planned developments, which include the needs of the labor market needs. The Minister has recently approved (191) scholarship students to various countries and prestigious universities in more than 50 specializations in various areas of science together supplying the demand of the labor market and of development in the State.

Since the building of a nation does not solely fall on the shoulders of the government, and because the founding father ingrained the love for goodness, integrity, compassion and nation development in all Emiratis, scholarships were established and sponsored by benevolent parties such as State elders, universities and their boards, educational institutions as well as individuals; all considering the demands of the state and of its development. Thus, His Highness Sheikh "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the program “I’dad” (preparation) for scholarships in July 2001, in aims to develop the skill levels of national capabilities, and to encourage attending exceptional universities, later to return employing refined abilities to the development of the Nation .

The scholarship program offered by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation enables Emirati students to attend a range of the finest universities in the world; obtaining bachelor’s and master's degrees in nuclear, electrical, chemical and mechanical engineering. In addition the scholarship program allows Emirati students to access to the latest techniques and ideas of energy especially relating to industry and the future of civil nuclear power in the UAE.

ADNOC for scholarships began sending Saudi students in 1974 to study in the United States and in the United Kingdom to meet the needs of the oil industry. The first batch graduated in 1979, and financial backing continued in order to generate more specialized employment, more competitive, and high- tech cadre for the oil and gas industry.

Emiratis, in all sectors particularly in the oil industry, now reap the results of the seeds implanted by the Founder, and sponsored by the Head of State and his brothers, the rulers of the Federation. It is worth mentioning that a recent report by the company, Al Masah Capital Limited, states that Fujairah stands out among the top 3 global centers for storage of oil including Rotterdam and Singapore. The process of oil storage has practical importance at this time due to the blockades, policies and arbitrary closures, which adversely affected the supply chain of oil and gas. The UAE is exerting further efforts to create a stronger and more solid global network to avoid delays and obstructions.
