Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Tuesday, May 12th, 2015, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior (Diwan), to activate the national document for student awareness for Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar), at the Program’s pavilion at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al Marar, Director of Governmental Affairs at the Diwan of Prime Minister, signed the MOU on behalf of the Office, and Her Excellency Youmna Hamad Bodowah, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education and Scientific Research Affairs, signed on behalf the Ministry.
The two sides agreed that signing this MOU comes from the shared responsibility between all institutions, local and federal government bodies and departments, and private institutions, and in activation of the common goals to work to build the nation and the good citizen, and work on fortifying the society against the threatening challenges, especially those facing the young generations who are the backbone of tomorrow and the hope of the future, and the real ammunition to sustain and protect the gains, through the work based on partnership, strategic cooperation, and the unification of visions and directions to serve the State's priorities. Therefore, both parties met to put all their potential to achieve and promote the common goals, by providing the Ministry with the Program’s executive plan approved by the Higher Committee of Khalifa Student Empowerment Program to empower the students throughout the academic year, and train and qualify the coordinators and those concerned and introduce them to the objectives and mechanisms of the program, and how to make use of them, as well as design the scientific materials and training content for the implementation of the program, and provide the Ministry with periodic reports on the extent of achievement of the objectives set.
For its part, and according to the MOU, the Ministry adopts the national document for student awareness as an essential reference to unify the awareness and preventive messages addressed to students, and makes sure to benefit from them, as the Ministry calls all higher education institutions in the State to integrate and introduce the topics of Khalifa Student Empowerment Program in the university courses, and it issues circulars to those institutions not to let any government or private authority conduct any events or awareness and preventive lectures except through this Program, and that the two sides will hold regular meetings to unify the content of awareness.
The MOU also stipulates the participation of both parties in the activities of the other’s activities to consolidate cooperation and integration, and that the Ministry is to work on the promotion and marketing of these events in various higher education and cultural attaches and offices overseas, as the MOU is targeting the students of public and private higher education institutions and students on scholarships.
