
The Ministry of
Higher Education and Scientific Research took part in the seventh meeting of
the Consultative Council for the implementation of the Science, Technology and
Innovation Strategy in Islamic countries, which was held over two days, October
9th - 10th,
2014, at the permanent headquarters of the Organization of the Islamic
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), located in the city
of Rabat, Morocco.
Under the guidance
of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, and his emphasis on supporting the efforts
of Islamic countries in the promotion of scientific research and innovation,
and contributing to the implementation of the strategy of Science, Technology
and Innovation in Islamic countries, in order to harness the scientific
knowledge in service of the social and economic development in these countries
, the Ministry was represented by Dr. Husam Sultan Al Ulama, Director of the
Scientific Research Department.
Dr. Al Ulama participated
in the discussion and adoption of the documents of ISESCO in the field of implementing
the strategy and the document "Key Performance Indicators for Universities
in the Islamic World", and the project "Atlas of Science and
Innovation in the Islamic World". He also participated in the discussion
of the draft guidance document "Towards building knowledge economies in
the Member States of ISESCO ", and the draft program of "Tafahom"
for the exchange of students, teachers and researchers between universities in
the Member States, in addition to his participation in the discussion of the
proposal on the establishment of a joint cooperation between the Member States
of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the field of marketing and
entrepreneurship education.
Dr. Al Ulama has
been selected for the presidency of all sessions of the meeting, including the
closing session, to prepare and discuss the finalization of the recommendations
and their approval.
