The platform of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
within the Federal platform received on the first day of GITEX 2014 exhibition
on Sunday 12th of October, its interested visitors from students,
researchers and faculty, and those interested in the sector of higher education
and scientific research to learn about the services and activities offered to
these groups, and that the Ministry had started to convert to electronic
services in 2012, Dr. Saeed Al Hassani, Undersecretary of the Ministry, said
that the Ministry has completed conversion of 90% of its services to electronic
which will be completed by the end of 2014.
These include services that can be accessed through the Ministry’s website;
Certificate Equivalency issued by accredited higher education institutions
outside the State service, and related ancillary services of interest to
students interested in studying abroad, and Attestation of Certificates issued by private
and accredited higher education institutions in the State, and related services
needed by the student who wishes to study within the State, in addition to
the special services for the administrative and teaching staff in private
institutions, and application to institutions of higher education service,
and registering
for the CEPA exam, answering inquiries and informing customers electronically,
as well as the addition of video chat service to inquire about the services
provided by the Ministry to the persons with disability.
While the student electronic and smart scholarship portal, which is an
integrated and comprehensive system available for use by all students applying
for scholarship, students studying abroad, Cultural Attachés, academics,
parents and authorities offering scholarships, includes more than 33 service
needed by the student, his guardian, authority offering the scholarship or
other relevant parties, it includes academic, administrative, financial and
other services, and the portal will be reassessed in accordance with feedback
from the student, his guardian, the Cultural Attachés or other stakeholders to
develop and improve it continuously.
The system also includes a scholarship database, which provides
information about scholars to enrich the policies and scholarship programs of
the State, and the ability to make decisions at the right time.
The website also offers lists of licensed private higher education institutions
and its accredited programs within the State, universities selected for
scholarships at the expense of the Ministry, universities recommended for
students wishing to study at their own expense, and universities recommended
for electronic learning, in addition to videos to explain to the customer how
to access its various services, how to fill out applications for all the services,
all the way to the delivery and receiving the result.
The Ministry has issued recently an electronic guide for the educational
institutions in the UAE, which aims to provide a specialized, integrated
electronic system to help school students and provide them with information and
data on those institutions, containing the detailed information needed
by students such as; the method of study, degrees offered, disciplines,
colleges, local and international institutional accreditation information,
societal role of the institution, partnership and cooperation agreements with
other educational institutions within the State and abroad, scholarships,
admission criteria, mechanisms of entrance exams and tuition for each
specialty, number of years of study and credits required, the nature of jobs,
economic and
productive sector associated with the theme, acceptance policy and hours transferred
from other educational institutions, the Guide also features easy navigation
through the search engine according to the Emirate, specialty and
degree level, and is available in both Arabic and English, it also has a direct
link with the websites of the educational institutions.
