Since the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Ministry
of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched implementation of an
integrated plan to commemorate the Humanitarian Work Day which also coincides
with the tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan, that included
a range of charitable initiatives and will extend throughout the Holy Month
aimed at strengthening efforts of volunteer work.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Institutional &
Support Services, Mr. Saif Rashed Al Mazroui, in his interview with the
newspaper, Al Bayan, stated that the founding father, God rest his soul, is the
eternal humanitarian leader, whose compassion had no limits and who was keen to
provide comprehensive prosperity for the children of the homeland and donations
for the needy in various parts of the world. Under his guidance the Emirates
became an umbrella for all and charities spread with their initiatives covering
different parts of the world; hence, all Emiratis followed in his footsteps.
The Ministry has organized a collective Iftar for all
staff and associates of the Ministry as part of the Humanitarian Work Day which
featured a lecture by Naji Al Arabi, one of the guests of the Head State, focusing
on the significance of humanitarian work. The Ministry also purchased Qurans
and Islamic booklets specific to the Holy Month of Ramadan and Fasting in
Arabic, Urdu, and English, distributed to workers. In addition, the Ministry distributed
Iftar meals to surrounding mosques.
