Reinforcing International Cooperation in the Education Fields

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, HE Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, received the US Congress delegation at his palace yesterday. The delegation visiting the country currently is headed by Luis Gutierrez, Head of the Internal and External Investment Control Sub-committee. Sheikh Nahyan discussed with the delegation the importance of relations between the two countries as well as the methods of developing such relations in the fields of higher education and scientific research, pointing out the measures taken by the UAE within the framework of educational, cultural, economic and investment openness at the international level, which contributed to creating a qualitative leap in terms of developing the local community in all aspects. He concentrated on the concept of higher education in the UAE, in both its public and government sectors, confirming that the President, HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, is making every effort towards providing the latest technological means in the fields of higher education, and that HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, is carrying out the necessary follow-up for the implementation of a new strategy in the field of higher education to train the cadres that are the most eligible to work in the local market and serve the country and its development. The head of the delegation informed Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak that the purpose of the visit was to study the educational level that the UAE has reached as well as the levels attained in investment, business and other fields, and to reinforce cooperation therein thus contributing to the two countries’ progress and development.
