The General Civil Aviation Authority has received the accreditation certificate from the National Qualifications Center (NQC) of the Ministry of Education (MoE), after fulfilling the technical requirements and conditions for accreditation as a body offering and accrediting professional qualifications in the aviation sector. The GCAA will also monitor the training institutions wishing to offer accredited professional qualifications and ensure the quality of the professional qualifications and certificates.
Captain Khaled Siddiq Al-Blooshi, Manager of Air Crew Licensing Department, has received the certificate on behalf of the GCAA.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Higher Education Advisor, Director of the NQC, said that the NQC was cooperating with the economic, industrial, and other institutions in the country keep up with global competition and achieve excellence and leadership. He added that this would eventually achieve knowledge sustainability, develop institutional capacities and enablers, and qualify human cadres with knowledge to use modern technologies, participate in the march towards excellence, and develop the services that meet the expectations of all the sectors.
He added that the NQC was aiming to achieve the best outcomes and establish the highest standards of job skills in the aviation sector, to develop it and elevate the ranking of the national workforce, in line with the country’s strategic vision to adopt a knowledge economy.
Dr. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas also pointed out that the various sectors in the country were playing a great role in sustaining development and prosperity, including the aviation sector, which he said played a great role in boosting competitiveness, supporting national economy, and enhancing the ranking of UAE in global economic indicators. He added that the aviation sector also played a vital role in economy, investment, tourism, and industry.
In this context, HE Saif Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, said, “Education and vocational training in the aviation sector are basic parts of the Authority’s strategy and policy. Today’s professional accreditation aims to raise the efficiency of the labor market and develop this sector to meet the needs of institutions and companies operating in the country, which we hope will achieve a qualitative leap in attracting young people to the aviation sector in the country.”
For his part, Eng. Ismaeil Mohammed Al-Blooshi, Assistant Director General for Aviation Safety Affairs at the GCAA, said, “We are working hard with aviation training institutions in the country to develop a mechanism for accrediting vocational training for pilots, engineers, and air traffic controllers, who play an important role in the aviation sector. The vocational education will also play various useful roles, including providing the labor market with human cadres capable of immediate production after graduation and qualifying the workforce in the aviation sector.”
