As many as 1.1 million male and female students of government and private schools will resume classes today to mark the beginning of the new academic year 2019-2020 after the Ministry of Education have completed all procedures for receiving students.
Some 279,365 male and female students are registered in goverrnment schools including 149,541 in Dubai and Northern Emirates and 129,824 in Abu Dhabi.
Congratulating the students, teachers and all educational cadres on the new academic year and wishing them all success in fulfilling their noble mission at best, HE Hussain Al Hammadi, Ministry of Education, stated that with every academic year it is hoped that quantum leaps would be achieved in the Emirati School though this would require concerted efforts from all partners of the educational process including teachers, parents, students and UAE concerned institutions with the aim of reaching advanced positions worldwide in the education file in line with the aspirations of the wise leadership, which is closely following up the educational process in the UAE.
Al Hammadi called on all educational components to intensify their efforts for an ideal launch of the new academic year, enabling the educational process to go most smoothly and easily and the educational system to be upgraded and supported as required to be in the lead.
During the summer vacation, the ministry emarked on a project to revamp the educational facilities in several schools and opened the Zayed Educational Complex in Al Seyouh in Sharjah, which typically adds to the philosophy of education in the Emirati School, he said.
The complex accommodates around 2,000 students and provides an up-to-date educational environment that keeps pace with the ministry's orientations aimed at consolidating the bases of up-to-date and visionary education that would improve the quality of the UAE educational product, he added.
In a bid to promote the Chinese language, the new academic year will see as many as 8,027 students learning the Chinese language. The students are distributed on a number of classrooms including kindergartens and grades 1, 7, 9, 10 and 11.
The Ministry of Education's teams have completed all the necessary preparations to receive students by distributing school books on around 600 schools all over the UAE in co-ordination with the printing press entrusted with printing the curricula. The teams were also keen on completing all maintenance procedures for a number of government schools. As many as 26,000 teachers and administrative and technical cradres officially resumed work on August 25.
