H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, has adopted today the names of students admitted to the governmental higher education institutions and the names of students receiving scholarships within the program of "scholarships to study abroad" for the academic year 2017/2018.
His Excellency congratulated the students who completed the secondary school, wishing them further progress and success and stressed the importance of selecting students for academic disciplines that will achieve the orientations and aspirations of the State for the coming years and its need for competent national cadres capable of continuing the development process in the country to reach the ranks of the leading countries in the fields of innovation, space science, medicine, engineering and entrepreneurship.
The number of students admitted is 14,746 students for the first semester of the academic year 2017-2018, of whom 5 thousand and 109 at the United Arab Emirates University, 6 thousand and 59 at the Higher Colleges of Technology and 2042 at Zayed University, 1020 in the institutes and colleges affiliated to Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, 295 at Khalifa University and 37 at Mohammed V University in Abu Dhabi.
While the number of students enrolled in the program of "scholarships to study abroad" is 184 students (males & females), including 133 for the study of bachelor's and 51 students in the field of post- graduate studies with the possibility of increasing the number of students of abroad scholarships due to completion of special procedures for a number of students in institutions of higher education outside the State in the coming days.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi said that the Ministry of Education has taken the responsibility of education development and providing it with the terms of success and leadership. The Ministry has developed a clear vision of what our national human cadres should have in terms of competitive science, knowledge and skills on the one hand, and who are able to continue to manage the development of various state facilities on the other hand.
H.E. the Minister of State for Higher Education said that the Ministry of Education seeks, through its various programs, to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership to train human cadres capable of achieving the vision of the state and its agenda in the coming years, in order to reach the age of the knowledge based economy, which requires the provision of quality education that enables our students to possess the tools of the future and influence the industry based on their acquired science and skills. He pointed out that the ministry has worked to provide academic specialties that meet the needs of the labor market and simulate the conditions and requirements of sustainable development.
For his part, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al-Mualla, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs of Higher Education, said that the Ministry of Education plays a vital challenging role in the preparation of human cadres for future jobs that require high quality skills, who are able to compete and achieve leadership, a matter that required exerting further efforts to develop our educational system to reflect future trends.
He added: "our students are our gamble and ambassadors for the future; therefore we seek to support them with all we can to ensure their excellence and ownership of tools of their age. In order to be able to do so, the Ministry of Education has endeavored to strengthen cooperation with higher education institutions in both the public and private sectors to ensure the building of qualified national competencies for leadership positions in order to support the vision and direction of our country to build a knowledge-based competitive economy".
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs of Higher Education explained that the "Scholarship to study abroad" Program implemented by the Ministry is a vital tool to enable our national cadres to have vital knowledge and sciences which have become a top priority to ensure the continued progress and competitiveness of our country in various sectors. The Ministry of Education has devoted special attention to building partnerships with prestigious international universities and focusing scholarships in vital fields that contribute directly to building the knowledge economy.
The Ministry of Education invited students who were not listed in the admissions list to communicate directly with the Department of Student Registration and Counseling at the Ministry or to communicate with the educational institution in which they wish to enroll to pursue their applications.
For admitted students, they can use their username and password and access their online page at the link below to confirm their acceptance starting from the 14th of July, 2017 and visit the institutions' websites for more information.

The Department of Registration and Student Counseling has sent SMS messages to mobile phones of students admitted to higher education institutions and foreign missions.
The Ministry explained that for students admitted to foreign missions, they should contact the Scholarship Department via e-mail: sch.students@moe.gov.ae.
