Under the coordination of the UAE’s Cultural Attaché, a meeting was held between the UAE’s Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Scientific Research and Higher Education in the Republic of Egypt. The meeting was held virtually through online video communications technologies. The two parties exchanged best practices in the field of attracting international students for university studies between the two countries. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Dr. Ammar Bin Nasser Al-Mualla, the Cultural Attaché to the Republic of Egypt, Director of Educational Organizations and External Relations, and a number of representatives of the UAE’s MoE. From the Egyptian side Dr. Mohammad Al-Shennawi, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for International Agreements and Relations attended, along with Dr. Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Digital Transformation, and Dr. Rasha Kamal, Head of the Central Department.
In his welcoming speech, Dr. Ammar Bin Nasser Al-Mualla stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two institutions at the level of the joint programs between the two countries to elevate future generations in an integrated manner that increases their knowledge and experience on both a scientific and practical level. Mr. Saif Al-Mazroui, Advisor to the Minister of Education, stated that such initiatives stimulate better knowledge acquisition that supports all the other aspects that students need to complete their academic studies. Mr. Hazza Ibrahim Al-Mansouri, Director of Government Communication Department and Educational Media at the MoE, presented the achievements of the “Study in the UAE Initiative”. He began by tackling the details of the initiative itself and its objectives and presented statistics and outputs that embodied the importance of the initiative and how it is helping to enhance the scientific level of the students.
The Egyptian side, in turn, presented their leading experience under the “Study in Egypt Initiative,” which reflected the role of international partnerships in supporting the initiative and digital transformation in higher education, in terms of procedures and achievements. The Egyptian side also tackled the development of the scholarship system in Egypt and the strategies of the "Study in Egypt Initiative”.
At the end of the meeting, the participants recommended holding similar fruitful meetings frequently, which would elevate and develop the scientific and practical aspects by exchanging rich and diverse experiences within scientific, educational and knowledge areas. They also recommended exchange programs, getting better acquainted with relevant support platforms, and attracting international students in order to raise the level of integrative awareness, so that maximum benefits may be realized throughout all educational tracks and systems.
