The classrooms serve the 10th and 11th grade students in a step towards building the deep health awareness

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has completed the preparation of 65 classrooms with health science supplies in various schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Such step comes in preparation for the next academic year. The classrooms serve the 10th and 11th grades girls in line with MOE’s strategy to develop various educational policies and educational environment that meet the highest international standards for creating an attractive educational environment for students.

These steps are made in the framework of MOE’s pursuit to build the students’ proper health awareness and culture by allowing field practices of their theoretical knowledge in these classrooms in a practical and deliberated manner in accordance with the highest standards in this field.

His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al Yahyai, Assistant Undersecretary of Curriculum and Assessment Sector, said that the MOE’s educational and developmental plans aim at developing the student from the mental, academic and health perspectives. This aims at promoting an educational and competitive product that meets the leading conditions and specifications.

His Excellency explained that providing 65 health science classrooms with the best supplies is meant to shape the students’ health thinking through giving them the chance to master the modern health skills which will serve them and their society. This is a typical MOE’s goal around which the various MOE’s policies and programs revolve.

His Excellency made clear that based on MOE’s vision of the educational field, MOE finds that the best way to combat the communicable diseases such as obesity and diabetes is to fight them at schools through creating a student-focused healthy lifestyle which depends on theoretical as well as practical aspects and adopts proper health practices.

He stated that the classrooms serve the 10th and 11th grades girls in the various regular education sections. He added that supplying the classrooms with the best modern appliances and equipment has been completed with the purpose of teaching the students the first aids and the so-called first responder practical skills which are concerned with providing the pre-hospital health care to those in need due to the occurrence of emergencies that require health, direct and speedy interference.

He said “the health sciences course included by MOE last year deals with the shortcomings and weaknesses of the student’s daily health behaviors. The course tries to modify such behaviors in accordance with the health standards that improve the students’ educational environment through updating their health skills and behaviors.

He added that the health science course is a kind of response to the society need for awareness of the proper healthy life practices and a reflection of the necessity of establishing a good healthy lifestyle for the students in their different stages as an important step to combating certain common diseases nowadays such as obesity and diabetes, which are widely spread among students. MOE is devoted currently, in cooperation with the state health institutions, to promoting the proper health practices. Such cooperation aims at increasing the students’ awareness and preserving public health to prepare the members of society for a physical and mental healthy life.

He stated that the MOE focused on completing the preparation of the health science classrooms due to the importance of spreading the health culture among students and of modifying the healthy behaviors and skills in the school and students’ daily life. This is meant to create a real applied model of the public healthy life of students of various ages.
