The Ministry of Education (MoE)
signed a cooperation agreement with the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for
Distinguished Academic Performance (HBRADAP) to implement a bag for identification
of talented students in a number of schools across the UAE for 4 to 8 grades.
The agreement was signed in the
presence of H.E. Hussain Al Hammadi, H.E. Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi
representing MoE and H.E Dr. Jamal Al Muhairi from HBRADAP at the Award’s head
office in Dubai.
The agreement mandates the
formation of a committee of the two parties to plan and coordinate joint
initiatives and develop criteria for selecting trainers on tools to be applied for
discovering talented students and candidates.
The provisions of the agreement
include the training of candidates who are graduates of the professional
diploma program in gifted education or those who meet the criteria to implement
and grade the first stage of the bag and to issue certificates to teachers and
trainees provided that the training requirements are met.
The agreement also requires the
implementation of the second stage of the talents identification to students
passing from the selected schools, grading the tests, preparing the results and
sending the list of the talented students to MoE.
H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al
Hammadi highlighted the educational initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan
bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and His
Highness's contribution in supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Education
through the programs, activities and projects of the Award, especially those
related to developing and improving the educational service as well as
standards of excellence and attention to innovation.
He added that the bag for talent
identification will identify elite students for specialized programs that
respond to their abilities to serve the community’s aspirations towards
creating the future leaders of scientists and innovators, pointing out that such
elite will receive the appropriate care through follow-up, mentorship, support
and advising in line with the efforts to achieving the education goals
according to the national agenda.
On his part, H.E Dr. Jamal Al
Muhairi stressed the importance of signing this MOU with the Ministry of
Education as the body tasked with developing an excellent education system that
helps build an advanced knowledge society which coincides with the Award’s
objectives to elevate all stages of the education system.
