The Ministry of Education, represented by the Welfare and Activities Sector, has launched a training camp for the national competition "Emirates Skills" and the VEX Robotics World Championship, with the participation of 65 students from different schools in Dubai and the northern regions. The training camp will be held from 28 to 30 March 2017 aiming to prepare the participating teams and avoid their shortcomings, as well as training them on new skills and following up the levels of the students and monitoring their improvement mechanisms.
The agenda of the training camp includes workshops on electronic programming and its role in facilitating business transactions and designing websites, as well as the programing, designing, installing and using of robot devices to meet to challenges of the competitions. This is in addition to organizing a workshop aims at teaching students the basics of graphic design and flower design.
Awareness
The national competition "Emirates Skills", sponsored by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak the President of General Women's Union and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and the Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation, is organized by Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training and will be held from 11 to 13 April 2017. "Emirates Skills" is considered to be one of the most prominent competitions that seek to raising awareness of technical and vocational education among Emirati youth and involving them in applied technology activities through the establishment of technology clubs, with the aim of preparing national manpower for industrial and technological development in the UAE.
Moreover, the competition is a valuable opportunity for high-skilled Emirati students and youth to prove their competencies and develop their competitive abilities, a matter that leads to stimulating them to improve their technical capabilities and strive for better achievements.
Stimulation
The VEX Robotics Championship was organized by the Ministry of Education at the Emirati national schools on the 10th of March 2016, with the aim of promoting the formation of students' characters, providing them with basic skills and stimulating their minds to innovation, which has become one of the most important features and directions of the UAE in the 21st century, as well as achieving exceptional steps and leaps in sustainable development that the Ministry of Education seeks to accomplish within its efforts to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, through utilizing all the available resources and capabilities, and developing innovative and creative national minds by upgrading the experiences and skills of students by creative and scientific activities including the Robotics Championship.
