The Ministry of Education and
National Archives at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs launched the
"Reading in the Memory of the Nation" project at the Al Nokhba School
in Dubai recently, in the presence of Marwan Al Sawaleh, the Undersecretary of
the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs.
The project includes a number of initiatives benefiting all school
students in the UAE in conjunction with Year of Zayed and in the framework of
the centennial initiative launched by the National Archives to commemorate the
centennial of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul
in peace.
The project includes an
initiative to enrich 100 school libraries with historical and national books,
100 other schools with the wise words of the late Sheikh Zayed – as well as the
initiative of printing one million of the following educational booklets:
(Khalifa: Journey Into the Future), and "Qasr Al Hosn: The History Of The
Rulers Of Abu Dhabi” book. The National Archives provides ten documentaries
from "Memory of the Nation" to the Ministry of Education for
inclusion in the Diwan platform.
Marwan Al-Sawaleh welcomed the
cooperation with the National Archives, the strategic partner in national
upbringing, pointing out that a large number of projects and initiatives link
the ministry with the National Archives. He stressed the importance of this
cooperation, which will raise young people on the national values of the
founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al- May Allah rest his soul in peace -
which strengthen young people’s belonging to the homeland and loyalty to the
wise leadership.
He asserted that the Ministry of
Education is keen to build bridges of cooperation with various national
institutions to serve the educational mission and explained that the ministry
is working through its curricula to enhance the national identity of the
students as this is one of the key pillars that receive great attention from
the ministry and that it has formed specialized teams of the best educators for
that purpose.
He added that the legacy and
journey of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was one of the most
important guidelines in the curriculum sector which worked through several
courses in the curricula of social studies and national education, the most
recent of which was a the Year of Zayed matrix, to highlight the virtues and
qualities of the founding father and his efforts which led to building an
advanced country in all fields.
