Students participating in the “Ambassadors of the Future
Program”, which is part of Our Ambassadors Program 2018 recently launched by
the Ministry of Education, became acquainted with important academic experiences
during their visit to prestigious universities in the United States and
Singapore. This helped support the students' understanding of the future
directions of these institutions in relation to the academic fields and
academic specializations for the future.
Our students also learned
about the plans of these institutions and how innovation is introduced as a stand-alone
approach in their different working literature. Students in the “Ambassadors of
the Future Program” also visited Harvard University, Alabama, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Johns Hopkins University which specializes in scientific
research and the National University of Singapore. These universities are considered
influential and effective entities in the future of modern sciences, its
manifestations and implications for the human being, the environment and the
future development of societies.
200 students participated
in the “Ambassadors of the Future Program” and took part during their visit in
specialized courses in various fields, including innovation and the realities
of academic specializations. They also learned about different fields of modern
science such as programming, automated learning, environmental challenges,
space sciences, specialized academic writing skills, specialized courses in
English, and how to develop their sense of innovation as one of the pillars of
the countries’ progress and sustainability of their development. Our students
also acquired leadership and community building skills. They also had the
opportunity to experience the nature of campus life and learn about its
opportunities and challenges. Our students also became acquainted with NASA
Space History Center, which includes the launch base of the first US space
shuttle.
In this context, Amal Al Jasmi, Director of Academic and
Career Counselling at the Ministry of Education, said that “the Ambassadors of
the Future Program enables our students to experience university life in some
of the world’s leading universities. And as part of the
Ministry's efforts to equip youth with the necessary knowledge and skills for
the future, the Program is one of the best ways to prepare them for the future
as they learn about the new academic requirements and ways to acquire them, and
they understand what is expected of them once they graduate from high school.
As such, the students will be able to explore their choices at these
universities, and pursue their studies in areas that inspire their enthusiasm
and passion once they are ready. "
Al Jasmi added: "These experiences will greatly
benefit our students when they return, as they will have a greater
understanding of the opportunities available to them. It will also enhance
their commitment to education in the school stage as they will be able to reach
some of the world's leading universities and join the most important academic
disciplines that keep pace with UAE trends to move to the era of the knowledge
economy and also meet the needs of the labor market for qualified national
competencies in the country”.
