The Ministry of Education (MoE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The MoU aims to promote understanding, cooperation, and exchange of basic researches in scientific and technical areas chosen with the consent of both parties. The MoU also provides for the exchange of scholars and the establishment of joint workshops in vital areas.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al Mualla, Undersecretary for Higher Education Academic Affairs, and Mr. XIE Xincheng, Vice President, both signed the MoU on behalf of the MoE and the NSFC.
The signing of the memorandum has been attended by Sheikh Dr. Ammar Bin Nasser Al-Mualla, Director of the International Educational Cooperation Department, H.E. Dr. Ali Al-Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Beijing, Mr. Abdullah Al-Shamsi, Head of the Political Department at the UAE Embassy in Beijing, Zhou Liao, Director General of the Office of International Educational Cooperation, and Li Wenkong, Director of the Asia, Africa, and International Organization Department at the International Cooperation Office.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al Mualla said, "The signing of the MoU with the NSFC is part of the optimal investment of the capabilities of both parties, the exchange of expertise, and the promotion of innovation, which an axis in the national strategy for higher education in the UAE."
He pointed out that the MoE was looking forward to starting a new, fruitful phase to enhance cooperation in the areas of common priority between the two countries through joint research, workshops, and exchange of expertise and researchers, which would promote the field of research and natural sciences in both countries.
H.E. stressed that the signing of the MoU came in a perfect timing that was witnessing flourishing cooperation between the two countries and while the world faced many challenges that required more cooperation between countries to promote research, especially in the field of natural sciences.
