The
Mohamed Bin Zayed Award for Best GCC Teacher will announce the winners of its
second edition next Sunday concurrently with the Qudwa Forum 2019 in a ceremony
held to mark this occasion at Manaret Al Saadiyat of Al Saadiyat Island in Abu
Dhabi.
Launched
under the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,

philosophy intended to create an innovative environment that serves as an
incubator of teachers’ educational contributions and roles, encourages them to
excel in various aspects of education and honors the distinguished teachers,
thereby accelerating the development of education.
The
Mohamed Bin Zayed Award for Best GCC Teacher reflects a modern educational
philosophy combined in terms of its content and objectives with a clear and
profound vision, which is inspired by the best educational practices and encourages
teachers’ creativity and innovation. It also reflects the great and growing
attention paid by the wise leadership as represented by His Highness Sheikh
Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme
Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for education in GCC countries in general
and the UAE in particular to gain the required momentum capable of achieving
the aspirations of these countries for enriching the educational process by
making exceptional leaps in their streams towards a holistic process of development where education is
its backbone and a pillar towards tremendous breakthroughs in all walks of life.
The award
in its second edition made a quantum leap in terms of promoting its objectives
and seeking constant development through introducing new criteria, Dr. Hamad Al
Darmaki, secretary general of the award, said.
These
criteria included focusing on linking initiatives with sustainable development
goals, stressing the teacher’s role in disseminating the artificial
intelligence culture and underlining the importance of the teacher’s role in
including the national vision of his own country in the education system and
adopting such government initiatives as tolerance and happiness etc., he added.
All
GCC teachers who teach in the general education sector, which includes
government, private and technical education sector, in the accredited schools
of the GCC countries as well as teachers who have a teaching experience of no
less than three years are eligible to participate in the award, Al Darmaki
said,
The award
is a platform for bringing education in GCC countries to higher levels, thanks
to its significant elements and standards aimed at properly developing the
educational cadres by highlighting their efforts, prompting the teaching staff
to look for the best educational practices that promote the objectives of
education and motivating teachers to keep innovating in their teaching areas,
he added.
Al Darmaki
explained that the award, which covers all GCC countries, is based on five
criteria that reflect the basic aspects that must be available in the teacher
and constitute the features of his career and achievements, which are required
by the award to reflect positively on the educational process and its elements
in the GCC countries participating in the award.
As a
way to bring the best educational practices to higher levels, the award is
based on several criteria for selecting and evaluating the education
competencies of the candidates, he said, adding that these criteria include creativity
and innovation, positive citizenship, allegiance, national belonging, development
and sustainable learning, communal and professional leadership and finally excellence
in achievement.
