The Ministry of Education and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme implemented a joint class that brought together Grade 6 students from Umm Suqeim Girls School in Dubai and their colleagues from the same class in Finland using e-learning technology. The students from both sides discussed scientific concepts of mathematics. The joint study class is an introduction to an integrated project initiated by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme to transfer students through modern technology to wider and more open learning environments.

This step reflects the advanced level of the various government schools. They possess a high-level technological infrastructure that meets future aspirations and provides our students with the best educational practices in a modern way. This will enhance the academic standard of our students by sharing experience and knowledge about all scientific subjects with their peers in other countries. This will increase our students' competitiveness and expand their world-class knowledge.

The joint class focused on the concepts of measurement in mathematics, using the digital content to promote this concept. The lesson aimed to develop communication skills in the age of technology by providing extracurricular learning, transfer of experience among students and learning about the cultures of students from all over the world. Our students introduced the Finnish students to the meaning of the blessed month of Ramadan and its underlying high values. This is the first step in the future cooperation between the UAE school and the Finnish school. The initiative aims to develop students' skills in communication and collaborative learning in Mathematics and how to link mathematics to real life.

Smart learning in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Learning Programme provides the UAE students with all the necessary technological tools and applications to keep up with the technological revolution in the digital millennium. The program is also keen to develop creativity skills, higher thinking skills and collaborative e-learning beyond the boundaries of space and time. The program also provides the interactive digital content that enriches the educational process so as to bring the UAE school to the highest levels of electronic maturity and enable them to occupy advanced positions up the ladder of global competitiveness.
