The Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched an initiative titled 'Inspiring Teachers', targeting male and female teachers working in UAE government and private schools with the aim of honoring them as well as perpetuating their educational achievements and circulating them in the educational field.
This should create constructive educational mobility that adopts pioneering educational best practices in all educational aspects.
This should also enhance the position of the teacher as a basic pillar for shifting to vast horizons in the development and modernization of education in line with the requirements of the modern age and its philosophy, which is centered on high-quality educational outputs and how far they possess up-to-date skills.
The initiative is aimed at upgrading the UAE education system by disseminating new and outstanding ideas among the educational staff with a view to motivating teachers to adopt new forward-looking ideas derived from the MoE's vision for the future of education in the country, be it direct education or distance education. Distance education came in response to the aspirations of the wise leadership, which has invested in it for years as an educational style that adds to the education system multiple pioneering dimensions based on innovation and creativity.
The initiative is also concerned with highlighting and stimulating leading and outstanding educational cadres, enabling them to contribute to achieving the national indicators in the field of education and spreading the spirit of innovation in the educational circles. Through the initiative, educational cadres will be able to disseminate leading educational practices that encourage the employment of modern technology and digital solutions to serve the purposes of education and spread the spirit of competitiveness in the field of educational innovation and creativity for changing the nature and traditional form of education.
H.E. Dr. Fawzia Badri, Advisor to the Minister of Education, said the initiative was designed to shed light on the highly qualified educational staff under the smart learning system with the aim of motivating and encouraging all those concerned to devise more effective ways that would render smart education a sustainable educational practice side by side with traditional education.
She explained that the conditions set by the initiative for its applicants include the following, among others:
- Participation should be characterized by originality and innovation and has not previously presented in other initiatives, prizes or competitions,
- The idea should have been previously implemented in a government or private school, has made a difference to the educational process and has been applicable for at least 3 months,
- Participation employs technology learning tools in the learning and teaching process,
- Participation should meet sustainability criteria and be applicable in a variety of school environments, whether direct or distance learning.
The initiative mimics various fields related to the traditional education system and the smart education system 'distance learning', she said. It features motivational preparation, management of student behavior in an innovative manner, an innovative teaching strategy of a clear and positive impact at all educational levels, a mechanism for assessing students' progress and an ability to receive any participation that provides a new idea or practice related to distance learning, she added.
The fields covered by the initiative include raising the efficiency of students' skills; enhancing teachers' ability to raise the readiness of students to participate and prepare for international tests; improving the way services are provided to students to ensure their high-quality life and well-being; communicating with parents and developing programs for highly talented students and students of determination, she said.
The last part of the initiative is concerned with activating and serving communication with social institutions, she added.
Applying for the initiative would be open until September 1, she said. Applications will then be sorted by the jury, while the candidates would be announced concurrently with the teachers' Day, she added, stressing the necessity of attaching a presentation on the participation, a report or a video in which the participant explains the idea and how far it meets the conditions of the initiative.
