HE Hussain Bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, has approved four new categories and three new medals for the 4th edition of the 'Founding Leader Award' for 2020. The decision came while he chaired the award management committee meeting, which took place yesterday via video conference in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Murad, Dean of the College of Science at the UAE University, Dr. Najwa Al Hosani from the UAE University, Dr. Ahmed Al Shaabi, Dean of Academic and Student Services at Khalifa University, and Dr. Youssef Al Hammadi, Dean of Graduate Studies at Khalifa University and Salem Al-Quraini, Advisor to the Minister of Education, Secretary-General of the Award, Mona Al-Hamrani, from the Projects Office / Sector, the Minister of Education, and Iman Al-Hosani, from the Department of Educational Organizations and External Relations and Eng. Amna Al-Shehhi, from the Projects Office / Sector of the Minister of Education.
The introduction of new categories and medals aims to extend the scope of the award to include the various components of the educational process and enriching the educational movement in a way that serves the Ministry's directions aimed at devoting the best educational practices in the educational field in both high and general levels. The introduced categories also respond to education in the current circumstances, which included the application of the distance learning system.
His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi said that the award, with its criteria, categories, and medals, responds to the effective educational movement witnessed by the educational system in the UAE. It also enhances the position of each element and component of the educational system in the country and opens for everyone the horizon of creativity, excellence and educational giving based on best international educational practices.
He indicated that the award responded to the current developments in the education field in the country and the resulting modern practices in the application of the distance learning scheme, which necessitated the introduction of categories that mirror this development in the education sector to create a competitive motivational environment that reflects positively on the pioneering educational movement. This comes in line with the vision of the award, which is derived from the vision and thought of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul.
His Excellency urged during the meeting that there is a need to direct the energies at the current stage to come up with innovative and qualitative ideas that support the education system to achieve global leadership in this field as well as focus on providing psychological and academic support to students during the distance learning period.
The new categories in the award included the best education zone and the best sector implementing distance learning and the best customers happiness center and the best university innovation project along with the other categories in the award, which are: best team implementing National Agenda indicators, distinguished nursery, best parents' council, best university administrative officer, best university professor in national universities, best scholarship holding student, outstanding research, the distinguished sector, the outstanding management/education council, the distinguished school, and the special honor. The three introduced medals include the best director of an education zone and the best supervisory/administrative officer in cultural attachés and offices abroad and the best inspiring employee. The Ministry has set a set of criteria related to each category and a new medal that considers the general criteria of the award and its goal.
The award aims at consolidating the thinking and visions of the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah rest his soul, developing the education system, upgrading the quality of performance for the performance of all personnel of MoE and fulfilling the national priorities in education. It also aims at highlighting the leading national competencies and improving works and services delivered at the ministry.
