The UAE Ministry of Education Showcases Its Innovative Technology as Guest of Honor at EDUTECH Korea

The UAE Ministry of Education is participating as a global partner and Guest of Honor at EDUTECH Korea, running from 16 to 18 January 2019 at COEX Exhibition & Convention Center, Seoul Korea. The event is set to welcome more than 30,000 participants from 22 countries in efforts of boosting competitiveness and building life-long education support systems. 221 exhibitors are set to showcase their latest achievements, facilities and technologies, as well as modern e-learning tools and platforms.

 

At the three-day event, the Ministry will showcase to attendees its innovative educational transformation and how technology is being used to enhance its students’ education journey through smart learning and artificial intelligence (AI). The Ministry will also examine state-of-the-art technologies and advanced e-learning programs that could be adopted in the UAE. Ministry representatives at the EDUTECH will also network with attendees in efforts or transferring knowledge, sharing best practices and identifying effective platforms and tools that have proven to be beneficial in the education sector. 

 

Commenting on the participation, H.E. Marwan Al Sawaleh, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs, said: “The Ministry is keen to stay up to date on the emerging global technologies and adopt them across it’s education ecosystem in the UAE. Innovative education and keeping pace with all the global technology changes are key for us to achieve our leaderships aspirations of becoming the best and most innovative country in the world. In our efforts of building a competitive knowledge-based economy, we require a dynamic education system that keeps apace with the latest global developments and foresees the future.”

 

He added, “For the past years we have undergone a digital transformation and enhanced our curriculum and teaching methods to meet the 21st century requirements. These events give us the opportunity to look into new ways to implement technologies that have to do with the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and blockchain into education system and students daily lives.”

 

The Ministry of Education has launched numerous initiatives and programs to develop students’ skills and capacities in robotics and artificial intelligence such as robotics training camp, VEX Robotics Championship and innovation Ambassadors. It has also created 11 FabLabs across its schools to motivate students to become innovators and entrepreneurs.

 

A Data Centre that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Intelligence (BI) to foresee trends, predict student’s development and behavior, analyze data and generate statistics was also established by the Ministry. The insights and data analyzed by the data scientists help the Ministry’s leaders make smart well-informed decisions related to the education system and its students.

 

Innovative smart portals and platforms have also been created by the Ministry to offer students, teachers, principals and parents support materials, online resources to raise the levels and outcomes of teaching and learning, as well as enhancing student interaction and experience.

 

The UAE also hosts a month-long innovation festival in February, to promote the UAE as a hub for creative thinking. During this month, the ministry organizes the National Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTI) Festival to spark the interest of students in these subjects with its various elements and encourage them to deem innovation as a lifestyle.
