The Ministry of Education recently organized a brainstorming workshop entitled “Here…We make the future” at the Sofitel Hotel in Dubai to discuss methods for the improvement of the education system and possible means of development in order to achieve the Ministry’s vision of “innovative education for a globally leading knowledge society”, and to debate the matter of quality assurance and development of the Ministry of Education’s outputs to conform with the new aspirations.
The two-day workshop aims at setting a practical vision on how to develop modern education mechanisms and learning resources in line with the Ministry’s approach, and to identify datum for the future and development of education in the Emirati School and identify the best practises and experiences in this field and collect suggestions, opinions and ideas supporting these aspects and present specifics of developing the educational system in the UAE to become globally competitive with efficient, innovative and creative outputs.
H.E Mohammed Al Mualla, Undersecretary for Higher Education Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Education, said during his opening speech: “Building the future through the preparation of a future generation is the main tasks assigned to the Ministry of Education. The organization of this workshop is based on the directives of the wise leadership in the UAE to develop education into international standards, and in implementation of the Ministry’s strategies of achieving government goals by launching comprehensive development on the educational process to conform with the trends of the knowledge economy in the State, thus moving to the future, through equipping new generations of students with skills and digital knowledge”.
His Excellency clarified that the workshop represents a broad worksheet, the results of which are to be studied and its contents cleared to reach final factual recommendations that are to be implemented to enhance the smart transition in the educational process and to create a leading educational environment in our schools and universities based on the ideas and suggestions of those participating in the workshop. He called upon students to present their creative ideas and vision for the future and to effectively contribute in the building of the educational process future, and to strengthen their role in leading their country in all fields.
The workshop was attended by around 200 participants from different departments at the Ministry of Education, teachers and professors from universities and schools, students from all stages of education, in addition to a number of educational specialists and experts from all Emirates, who presented various discussions and crucial points centred on the development of the educational process.
The workshop proposed a series of aspects presented by specialized researchers from all over the world that conform to the Government’s vision of making the educational system a tool for building a developed Emirati society equipped with sufficient knowledge, the most important of which included essential programs on the principles of training future generations and a presentation on the best practises and experiences in the principles of training, along with assessment models based on simulation, play, mental-based learning, motivation and methods for creative thinking.
The work teams also discussed during the brainstorming sessions a series of aspects, the most important of which included teaching strategies, modern trends in evaluation and the means of utilizing learning data and developing its results, self-learning, raising students’ achievements, in addition to professional development.
The suggestions made during the brainstorming sessions are to be studied to formulate ideas that can be connected to the Ministry’s educational strategy to reach the most suitable ones that can enhance the outcomes of the educational process and advance the future of education within the Emirati School.
