HE Eng. Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, the Ministry of Education Undersecretary for Control and Support Services, stressed that the MOE is about to complete the procedures of appointing 1386 male and female teachers for all specializations where such teachers will start their work from the beginning of the next academic year 2017-2018. The appointed teachers will receive training courses before the beginning of the academic year and will be distributed to schools as needed.
Al Hammadi stated that the MOE has a plan to replace the teachers whose contracts were ended and those who reached the age of retirement where they were given a sufficient opportunity for a full academic semester to manage their affairs, where there are 214 teachers reached the age of retirement and 479 English and P.E teachers who their contracts ended.
He mentioned that the Human Resources Department in the MOE is about to complete the appointment of the teachers who have passed the interviews and tests, and if there will be any vacancies in the future, such vacancies will be announced duly according to the required specializations along with giving UAE male and female teachers the priority of employment as followed.
Training Program
He indicated that the MOE intends to launch a training program to train the new teachers, before the beginning of the scholastic year, on the new curriculum and the laws, customs and traditions of the State. The program seeks to develop the new teachers in strategic, annual, quarterly and lesson planning in addition to making good use of learning and teaching methods and strategies, knowing the age characteristics of students groups and using them to improve the educational process along with using and producing educational resources and adopting performance-based assessment to improve student learning as well as employing and integrating students within the educational process, using effective classroom management, improving learning environment, designing students’ notes and using procedural research to improve professional practices, and communicating with colleagues and students' families effectively.
Professional License
Al Hammadi pointed out that the MOE has gone a long way by approving the professional license for teaching staff and the preparatory program for new teachers. Hence, focus and accuracy must be considered upon appointing the teaching staff in order to choose the best among them.
He mentioned that the MOE does not spare any effort to attract national teachers to work in teaching profession in order to be able to complete the procedures of appointment and meet the schools' needs of male and female teachers for the next year early and in a manner ensuring achieving the required stability in school community.
He also stated that UAE schools are the preferred destination for thousands of Arab teachers where the list of applicants per year indicates that among the applicants for jobs in different fields of study, there are applicants who hold PhD, MA and higher diplomas in addition to the applicants holding high academic degrees, which enables the MOE to select the most efficient of non-national teachers after meeting the schools' needs of national male and female teachers who are given a high priority by the MOE in the process of appointment.
