Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the
Family Development Foundation, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood
and Childhood, Mother of the National, "Umm Al-Emarat, ten (10) ministers,
headed by H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and
Knowledge Development and H.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of
State for Tolerance, launched the Ninth Session of the "Emirates Skills
National Competition", held by Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and
Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) for three days at the Abu Dhabi
National Exhibition Center, in the presence of H.E. Hussain Al Hammadi,
Minister of Education, H.E. Najla Mohammed Al Awar, Minister of Community
Development, H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and
Environment, and H.E. Jamila Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public
Education, H.E. Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State, H.E. Shama Al Mazroui,
Minister of State for Youth Affairs, H.E. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan
Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, H.E. Dr. Mughir
Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Health Authority and Member of the Executive
Council of Abu Dhabi, Major General Sheikh Ahmed Bin Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Al
Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority and Mubarak
Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and
Vocational Education and Training. All above ministers have been keen to
support more than 400 male and female citizens of state youth, competing in
(51) engineering and technical fields. The winners of the gold, silver and
bronze medals will be officially announced on Thursday. H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin
Mubarak said that the competition is a national event that embodies the great
efforts exerted by the wise leadership, represented by His Highness Sheikh
Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler
of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of
Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Their Highnesses
the Supreme Council Members, Rulers of the UAE, with a view to put the UAE
youth on the right path towards a bright industrial future, diversified and
comprehensive of all the required engineering disciplines in the UAE's current
stages of development, in its rich present and future, through several
developmental projects covering all fields, Including renewable energy, space,
aircraft and other important sectors.
H.E. Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi pointed out that the
strength of the competition among the youth of the state clearly indicates that
the UAE is rich with its own mindful and capable citizens, who are up to global
competitiveness, which fulfills the aspirations of the wise leadership in
producing national generations with advanced and innovative international
standards. Performance during the competition was distinguished by loftiness
and development and we all trust that citizens are the true wealth of the UAE.
Atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy
Upon the official launch of the competition, the
Ministers toured the various halls where they were introduced, by Mubarak Al
Shamsi, to the competition's work plan, subscription conditions, fields of
competitions and arbitration mechanisms. They have also met with UAE youth,
males and females, during the competitions, listened to them and observed their
performance and vision to the importance of these disciplines, amidst a great
atmosphere of enthusiasm and joy of the competitors and everyone.
National Demonstration
On her part, Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi said: "The new
session of the Emirates Skills National Competition is a national demonstration
of a great technical and engineering nature, which comes within the framework
of the advanced strategy carried out by the rational leadership to create creative
national cadres capable to keep up with the contemporary times and meet the
requirements of the labor market with international standards.
Field to highlight skills
H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of
Education, said: "The Emirates Skills National Competition has proved over
the elapsed years to be the real field to highlight the abilities and skills of
students in all educational institutions", pointing to the increasing
number and categories of students participating therein permanently, to help
enabling young people to realize the ambitions and objectives of the UAE in the
post-oil phase.
Citizens High Status
On his side, H.E. General Dhahi Khalfan praised the
efforts of ACTVET to organize this specialized competition for the ninth time
in a row, under the generous patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint
Mubarak and the presence of this constellation of ministers, stressing the high
status of all citizens of all age groups under the wise leadership. General
Khalfan invited all concerned institutions to support ACTVET to continue its
efforts in supporting our young people, the most precious wealth of the nation,
and enabling them to resume their research efforts towards self-development.
During the opening of the ninth session of the competition, Mubarak Saeed Al
Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, confirmed that the 2017 Emirates Skills
National Competition is rich in innovation and novelty, where the number of
competition fields increased from 24 in 2014 to 51 in this session, opening the
door to more youth skills.

Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Services Authority,
has launched yesterday the events of the ninth session of the "Emirates
Skills National Competition", held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha
Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and the Supreme
Council for Motherhood and Childhood, organized by ACTVET for three days at Abu
Dhabi Exhibition Center.
The Chairman of the National and Reserve Services
Authority has reviewed the training presentations with the participation of the
children of the state who compete in the various engineering and technical
fields, describing what he witnessed as the outset of the realizing the message
of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and
Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the people of the UAE, in
terms of the need to be armed with science and to acquire more advanced
technical skills. He also praised the support exerted by Her Highness Sheikha
Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman
of the Family Development Foundation, President of the Supreme Council for
Motherhood and Childhood, to all young men and women of all age groups, helping
them and follow them up directly in the various fields, especially educational
and vocational fields.
